Colleen Brown tears at our hearts as she does her own. With versatile songs and a voice akin to Joni Mitchell, she is relentlessly unafraid, weaving elements of folk, roots, Americana and pop into a sublime, striking blend. Her previous album ‘Direction’- co-produced by Joel Plaskett - saw Brown topping Canadian college radio charts, achieving rotation on CBC, and touring Germany and the UK. Colleen's 2016 EP ’Seasons Are Circling' capitalized on her collaborative musical friendships and featured a roster of guests including Winnipeg's Slow Leaves, Ontario's David Celia, and Edmonton-based artists Scenic Route To Alaska, Jesse and the Dandelions, and Mitchmatic. This exploration led her to adopt the moniker MAJOR LOVE under which a full-length album was released Aug 24, 2018 on Cowboy Junkies’ imprint Latent Recordings. The project expands her musical alliances with producer/engineer/musician Jesse Northey and CBC chart-toppers Scenic Route To Alaska. The first two singles 'Tear It Down’ and ’So Good’ have both been embraced in the CBC Radio 2 Top 20 and enjoyed some initial commercial radio crossover and key Playlist placements (including Starbucks, New Music Friday and large retail chain stores worldwide). The album debuted at #19 on the earshot! National College Radio charts where it ranked for 13 consecutive weeks. ‘I Can’t Wrap My Heart Around It’ was placed in a critical end-scene of CBC’s Burden Of Truth (at the beginning of their second season). Two other songs from this album have also been lauded for their song-craft. ‘Motherland’ - written essentially as a love-letter to Alberta - won a province wide songwriting contest in 2015 through the ATB competition, and the powerful ballad ‘I Love All Of You’ was a finalist in the Unsigned Only International Songwriting Competition for 2017.

Colleen continues to be a beloved live performer, having won over audiences opening for Randy Newman, Jim Cuddy, Rufus Wainwright, Crash Test Dummies, Whitehorse, Frank Black, Kathleen Edwards, Sarah Harmer, Buck 65 and Hawksley Workman, among others. She’s been asked to perform at festivals across Canada including Grande Prairie’s inaugural Bear Creek Folk Festival, Skeleton Park Arts Festival (Kingston), Wild Mountain (Hinton), South Country Fair (Lethbridge) Salmon Arm Roots & Blues and the Edmonton Folk Music Festival. She’s performed in concert halls such as the Chan Centre in Vancouver and Winspear Centre in Edmonton, as well as living rooms across the country. Her vocal talents lend themselves well to pop and folk standards and she has been repeatedly employed to sing in tributes to Joni Mitchell, Laura Nyro, The Band, Leonard Cohen, Gordon Lightfoot, Carole King and others. Colleen's new album "Winging It" will be released in May 2022.
